Glaxo Smithkline - total ductwork package for healthcare science centre

Working alongside sister company Hotchkiss Ductwork Ltd, Fire Protection supplied and installed smoke, kitchen extract and staircase pressurisation systems as part of a total ductwork package for Glaxo Smithkline's new healthcare science centre.

Located in Harlow, Essex, the centre is a flagship project representing Glaxo Smithkline's ongoing commitment to excellence in healthcare science. The new centre brings together more than 2,000 scientists and support staff from eight research and development sites throughout the UK. The specially designed buildings comprise over 66,000 square metres of floor space and represent the largest construction project ever undertaken by Glaxo Smithkline.

With ducting alone representing 10% of the project cost, Fire Protection and Hotchkiss were able to offer the client a total ductwork package; a compressive service to cover every aspect of ductwork ventilation, and Fire Protection's renowned Flamebar BW11 system to protect the building's occupants in the event of a fire.
